Showpiece Homes and Luxury Living… Elviria
Elviria might not share all the glitzy glamour of some other areas in Marbella but there are several excellent reasons why it has become one of the municipality’s most popular residential destinations for discerning property buyers.
Located 10 kilometres east of Marbella city, the urbanisation is a classic Costa del Sol mix of Spanish village and cosmopolitan enclave, just a short walk from the beach and with a picturesque mountain backdrop and extensive green areas.
In many ways it is the archetype Costa de Sol residential development: ideal for either a holiday or a permanent home; for people of all ages (from children to pensioners); and for a diverse range of tastes and preferences, from sedate leisure pursuits such as lawn bowling to robust nightclubbing.
The village has an authentic homely ambience, with town hall offices, schools and a post office, while the Elviria commercial centre is a bustling hive of activity, with popular bars, restaurants and shops.
The five-star Don Carlos Leisure Resort & Spa, with its top-class tennis and sports club, and the sybaritic pleasures of the renowned Nikki Beach Club are conveniently located in the plush seaside area of the urbanisation, while the Santa María Golf Club is also nearby on the eastern outskirts, with its warmly welcoming social atmosphere and (apart from a championship golf course) other sports amenities including paddle tennis courts and the aforementioned lawns bowls green.
Away from the village, moving up into the hills, the verdant Greenlife Estates is home to a scenically stunning executive golf course and the El Lago restaurant, one of only four Michelin-star establishments on the Costa del Sol.
Development in Elviria has been meticulously planned and controlled to ensure there is no negative impact on surroundings that have been declared a natural biosphere reserve by UNESCO.
From sprawling private villas to gated and secure communities of high-end apartments, Elviria offers visitors and residents a quintessential Mediterranean lifestyle with a blend of charm, tranquillity and modern conveniences, and excellent communications… just over half an hour to Málaga’s international airport in one direction, and even closer to the glittering allure of Puerto Banús to the west.
In the midst of this haven of good living, the six-bedroom villa featured here offers south-orientated views across Elviria to the sea and beautiful landscaped gardens with a heated pool and jacuzzi. Extending over 780 square metres of built area on a 2,500 square metre plot, the property comprises a spacious detached home with a completely separate apartment if required. Special features include larger than average bedroom suites, an additional kitchen for entertaining, and a games room leading out to the pool.

Hondajet[/caption]
Last week we visited the inaugural Yacht, Jet & Prestige Car Show in London, and left with a wish-list of superyachts to berth at one of the Coast’s marinas. As its name suggests, the exhibition also featured jets, so (with the show now having concluded) this week we look at some of the top options for those of us fortunate enough to be able to consider purchasing a private aircraft and taxiing it onto the runway at Málaga’s international airport.
Distributed by Aeris Aviation (a company chaired by Iron Maiden lead singer Bruce Dickinson), the Eclipse 550 is described as the “most efficient twin-engine jet on the planet”, able to fly up to 12,500 metres at a maximum cruising speed of 690 km/h, while consuming less than 200m litres of fuel per hour.
The Hondajet, on the other hand, is considered the “world’s most advanced light business jet aircraft”, incorporating numerous technological innovations in aviation design, powered by two highly fuel-efficient GE Honda HF120 turbofan jet engines, and equipped with a sophisticated glass flight deck.
