Just mentioning the word Mediterranean conjures up an image of blissfully sunny days, long stretches of inviting beach, languid al fresco lunches by the sea… and boating on glistening waters. Bordering the marina is Artola beach, a protected natural area of sweeping dunes (some of which have become popular with naturists), while another attractive beach area is Las Cañas, with its scattering of white homes in the midst of lush vegetation extending down to the sea.
For top sports amenities, the showpiece is Cabopino Golf. Located on the border of Marbella and Mijas Costa, the 18-hole course offers players breathtaking sea views – including the spectacular third, which drops 200 metres to the fairway. It has a 250-metre long driving range and a golfing academy for those wanting to take up the sport or fine-tune their game.
