Sparkling spotlight on luxury in Monaco

[caption id="attachment_1157" align="alignright" width="300"] Viking Concept[/caption] Top Marques Monaco is billed as “the most exclusive supercar show on earth” but that tells only part of the story. After a decade showcasing the finer things in life, the annual show “stepped up at least a couple of gears” this year. Once again, it was the only place in the world where motoring enthusiasts could test a supercar on a privatised circuit of Grand Prix Formula 1 racing (the famous street track through the principality), and there was an unprecedented number of world premieres including five supercars, two luxury motorbikes, three superboats and the latest VVIP helicopter by Agusta Westland. Top Marques Monaco 2014 also made its first foray into classic cars with several vintage vehicles on display, including an Adenauer Mercedes Benz 300 that belonged to Todor Zhivkov, the last Communist dictator of Bulgaria. In addition, visitors were able to admire a vintage luxury section of watches, and a stunning range of other prestigious items for the whole family, including leather products, bespoke jewellery, water toys, bicycles, shoes and crystal artwork. [caption id="attachment_1175" align="alignleft" width="300"] Lykan HyperSport[/caption] Returning to the auto theme, one of the highlights was the presentation of the Lykan HyperSport (Prototype Zero), manufactured by W Motors and on the market for €2.5 million. Touted as “the most luxurious, exclusive and technologically advanced hypercar in the world”, the revolutionary vehicle is equipped with a flat six, twin-turbo, mid-rear engine, offering 770 Hp and 1000 Nm of torque along a seven-speed dual clutch transmission, accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in less than 2.8 seconds, and reaches a maximum speed of 395 km/h. It also features a one-of-a-kind holographic display with interactive motion and tactile interaction, an advanced ID4Motion dashboard and a uniquely developed reverse mechanical doors system. For a touch of modern luxury, the Lykan comes with diamond-encrusted LED lights, a 24h/24h global elite concierge service and a unique patented design Cyrus Klepcys watch dedicated to Lykan owners only. Also unveiled at Top Marques Monaco was Lauge Jensen’s Viking Concept, a premium motorcycle design study that brings together the work of two of Denmark’s most creative talents: Anders Kirk Johansen, an industrialist whose family invented LEGO, and renowned vehicle designer Henrik Fisker. The result is described as “a bike that retains a classic cruiser look sculptured into a dynamic, flowing design”. The tank, seat and rear fender blend together to create a seamless effect, something Fisker believes to be unique in custom motorcycles. The Viking Concept is powered by a 45-degree V-twin producing 100 Hp and giving it a top speed of more than 205 km/h, but it is also the first motorcycle of its type to comply with new, much more stringent Euro IV emissions regulations that come into effect in 2016. Lauge Jensen currently produces the limited edition Great Dane custom cruiser, which starts from €42,800, and the company intends to build a bike based on the Viking Concept at higher volumes and with a lower price tag than the Great Dane. With ample garage space for four vehicles, this modern designer villa in the ultra-select La Zagaleta mountain urbanisation would make the perfect choice. Apart from breathtaking views over the Mediterranean and cutting-edge home features, the property is also conveniently situated for slipping out through the 24-hour-monitored security gates and enjoying a drive or ride through some of the Costa del Sol’s most picturesque scenery.
