Luxury shopping paradise in Puerto Banús

[caption id="attachment_1343" align="alignright" width="300"] Vacheron Constantin[/caption] A newly released report by the UNWTO has placed Spain second in the international rankings for “shopping tourism”. According to the World Tourism Organisation’s “Global Report on Shopping Tourism”, only the United States topped Spain for receipts from tourist spending in 2012 (the latest year for which figures are available), as this segment emerges as a “growing component of the travel experience”. Understandably, Barcelona and Madrid lead the way in Spain but Málaga province – and specifically Marbella – is pinpointed as a major player in a tourism segment that has a significant influence on a traveller’s choice of holiday destination and, by extension, their subsequent preference for a new or second home if they decide to make their visit more permanent. [caption id="attachment_1347" align="alignright" width="300"] Armand de Brignac[/caption] So as Marbella prepares for the third edition of Marbella Luxury Weekend (4-8 June) – with Puerto Banús, an ultra-select focal point of boutique chic, taking centre stage – we decided to showcase some lavish products that would sparkle on anyone’s dream shopping list. VACHERON CONSTANTIN: These three new one-of-a-kind additions to Vacheron Constantin’s Hommage à l’Art de la Danse collection were given an exclusive presentation at the New York City Ballet in early May.  Based on the highlights of a ballerina’s daily life – learning, training and performance – the creations revisit the ancestral art of Grand Feu grisaille enamelling to highlight the art of classical ballet by reinterpreting the works of Edgar Degas. [caption id="attachment_1349" align="alignleft" width="300"] T-Mechanic[/caption] ARMAND DE BRIGNAC: Determined to continue setting the benchmark for Champagne opulence, Armand de Brignac has announced the release of its Rosé Dynastie collection. Selling at approximately €500,000, the collection equates to 109 regular-sized bottles of Champagne, making it and the brand’s 2013 Gold Dynastie collection “the most comprehensive ranges of Champagne bottle sizes currently available anywhere”. Starting from the 750-millilitre bouteille, the collection also includes a 1.5-litre Magnum, three-litre Jeroboam, 4.5-litre Rehoboam, six-litre Methuselah, nine-litre Salmanazar, 12-litre Balthazar, 15-litre Nebuchadnezzar… and the big daddy of them all, the 30-litre Midas. [caption id="attachment_1353" align="alignleft" width="300"] Boca Do Lobo[/caption] T-MECHANIC: Adding a new twist to T-Mechanic’s watch-inspired cufflinks, these open-side pieces reveals all thanks to a tube in PPMA glass with sapphire treatment, made to withstand scratching and any other form of aggression and showing the fragments of an authentic watch movement, vertically-mounted inside the tube. BOCA DO LOBO: And finally, to keep all our newly-acquired purchases under secure under lock and key, what better than this golden Knox home safe from Boca do Lobo, part of the luxury design brand’s Private Collection presented at the Salone del Mobile in Milan and also including cigar humidors, watch winders and jewellery cases. The safe was inspired by army base Fort Knox, where most of the US government’s gold is stored, and can only be opened by inserting the right code in the centre of a luxurious brass crested handle inspired by the movie Goldfinger.
