From super highway to the high seas

After a stunning array of state-of-the-art supercars was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in early March, the action has now moved onto the water – and into the air – with the Rendez-Vous luxury event in China. In addition to superyachts from some of the world’s premier shipyards, the Hainan show also features private jets and a range of luxury goods including watches to wine.
One of the main exhibitors in China is the Azimut | Benetti Group, with six yachts from its 10 to 25-metre “Made in Italy” collections. These include the Azimut Atlantis 34 but, for boating enthusiasts back in Puerto Banús we decided to focus our attentions this week on a larger, more recent and “revolutionary” addition to the Atlantis range.
The Azimut Atlantis 50 follows in the wake of the Atlantis 48, with its quality design, functionality and optimisation of internal and external spaces, while also offering a series of innovations conceived by the Neo Design team, aimed at “rendering the craft even more versatile and exciting to handle”.
With an optional third cabin supplementing the owner’s and VIP cabins, the Azimut Atlantis 50 can accommodate from four to six guests, and the accommodation’s spacious and ultra-comfortable contemporary ambience is given a sophisticated touch with furnishings and fittings in striped walnut. The boat is fitted with two Cummins 600 hp engines that give it a maximum speed of 33 knots and cruising speed of 29 knots, with the fuel tank having a capacity of 1,700 litres.

McLaren 650 App[/caption]
Returning to Geneva – amidst a dazzling presentation of cutting-edge vehicles of today and the future – one of the highlights was McLaren’s ground-breaking fixed-roof 650S Coupé and its convertible version, the 650S Spider.
Both are fitted with the unique McLaren M838T twin turbo V8 engine, producing 650PS (641 bhp) and 678 Nm (500 lb ft), which propels them from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds.
Designed and developed as the result of 50 years of competing, and winning, at the highest levels of motorsport, the two 650S models take learnings from both the 12C and the McLaren P1™, with enhanced active aerodynamics and ProActive Chassis Control systems optimising their capabilities and usability.
Following the presentation of the coupé and convertible at the Geneva show, McLaren also announced the launch of a 650S Design Studio tablet app. The app enables users to configure a “dream specification” for the 650S Spider by selecting from the official paint, wheel and exterior carbon fibre options available. After exploring the full breadth of personalisation options available for the McLaren 650S, users can then place the car into any desired location using the device’s photo gallery. The app’s in-built functionality detects a range of backgrounds to adjust lighting and reflections accordingly, ensuring the final image looks as realistic as possible.
“Fans of McLaren will be able to use the innovative app to create some genuinely beautiful pieces of artwork with the 650S Spider,” said McLaren Automotive design director Frank Stephenson, “then share images across the various McLaren Automotive official social media channels.”

Privileged setting in Puerto Banús[/caption]
In the meantime, they will also need an appropriately privileged home setting to prepare for their new app experience, and maybe even park the real version in the downstairs garage! Few locations in southern Spain are more select than Playas del Duque, where this duplex penthouse offers sea views designed according to a bespoke project by a renowned architect, a secure complex with 24-hour concierge service, and tropical gardens resplendent with exotic flowers and plants, landscaped by an award-wining garden company – all just a five-minute walk from the beach at Puerto Banús.
